Bring Solutions, Not Complaints

Published:

Arnold Schwarzenegger once said:

“I have a rule: no complaining about a situation unless you’re prepared to do something to make it better. If you see a problem and you don’t come to the table with a potential solution, I don’t want to hear your whining about it. It couldn’t be that bad if it hasn’t motived you to try to fix it”.

I once had a manager that told me on day one that if I have a complaint, I shouldn’t say anything unless I have a solution.

I should bring her solutions instead of problems.

I haven’t seen the world the same since.

Now I see complaints for what they are: Empty words without action.

Solutions move us forward.

Whining leaves us stuck.

That lesson flipped my view of work and life.

Give me the solution, not the problem.
